Lake Afton is a man-made lake located in Sedgwick County, Kansas, USA. The lake was created in 1939 as a WPA project to control flooding and to provide a source of water for irrigation. Located west of Wichita, the lake covers an area of about 258 acres and has a maximum depth of 25 feet. It is a popular destination for fishing, boating, camping, hiking and picnicking. The lake is stocked with various species of fish including catfish, bass, crappie, and bluegill. There are also several picnic shelters, playgrounds, and campgrounds located around the lake. Afton is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
